White Oak group (acorns mature in one year, rounded-lobed leaves without bristles, light-colored bark and wood). Largest acorns of any oaks, a good food source for many species of mammals and birds. Leaves variable in shape but usually have a girdle-like constriction around the middle. Clustered terminal buds (like all oaks).
