NOTES: Drupes detach cleanly and easily from their receptacles, while drupes of blackberries do not. Second-year fruiting canes have 3-parted leaves, first-year 5-parted. Canes green initially, then becoming purplish-red, usually with a white bloom and hooked prickles.
